What To Do Around the Seacoast

There is always so much to do and see in Portsmouth, especially in the summertime. But if you’re looking to get away for the weekend, there’s plenty going on outside of town, as well – and you won’t have to travel very far!

Beach Day
Even though our state may have the smallest coastline in the country – only 13 miles! –  New Hampshire is known and loved for its beautiful beaches. In fact, they are some of the most popular beaches in all of New England. Get your daily dose of surf, sand, and sun by visiting one of the many state parks and beaches (Hampton, Jenness, and Rye are only a few notables), and check out the restaurants, arcades, and fireworks going on at night: http://bit.ly/29qB8gS

Mini Maker Faire
The fourth annual Maker Faire, which will be held in Dover, is the perfect opportunity to celebrate all of you inventive and creative brains out there! Tech enthusiasts, crafters, and scientists of all ages and backgrounds come together to inform and connect the community and share what they are making and learning. The Mini Maker Faire will take place on August 27th from 10 am to 4 pm at The Children’s Museum of New Hampshire: http://bit.ly/2aNnpE4

Farmers’ Markets
We love our Portsmouth Farmers’ Market, but did you know there are also locations in Exeter, Dover, and Durham, with over 100 vendors collectively? The Farmers’ Market is abundant with fresh local products, flowers, and homemade goods and crafts. The schedules for each market can be found here: http://bit.ly/2arQQM9

Outdoor Cinema Series
There’s no better way to spend the night than under the stars, so head on over to Swasey Parkway in Exeter to enjoy one of their outdoor movies! They show a new film every week, and on August 18th, there will be a BBQ put on by the Historic Exeter Retail Owners Group (HERON) and the Exeter Firefighter’s Relief Association. Visit Star Island
Star Island is one of the nine Isles of Shoals, and for the last 100 years, has offered an all-inclusive summer camp experience for families and hosted conferences, retreats, environmental programs, and more. Whether you’re dining, exploring, or relaxing, this unique and beautiful island is sure to be loved by the whole family: http://bit.ly/2aKsM5N

So if you’re feeling like getting out of Portsmouth but want to stay on the coast, we hope you get a chance to make it to some of these places! There are a few weeks left this summer so get outside and make the most of them!
