We couldn’t ask for a better place to spend the season than in the perfect little town that is Portsmouth, and this summer, the Prescott Park Arts Festival celebrates 42 years of bringing music, theatre, and art to the seacoast! This annual tradition has been favored by residents and visitors alike, and each year, it’s the event that brings us all together to appreciate the wonderful culture and art that exists within our community.
Family favorite The Little Mermaid will be brought to life on stage filled with all of the music we know and love from the film. For generations, both kids and adults have witnessed the magic of Walt Disney, and we can’t wait to experience a whole new version of the classic tale from under the sea! The play will be running through most Thursday and Sunday evenings from June 30th until August 21st.
The park is also the perfect place to watch movies the best kind of way – right under the stars! With films fit for every generation, concessions to snack on, and blanket-style seating, this park just became your new favorite theatre. Each week brings a new movie; cult classics like Star Wars, Jaws, and Top Gun will be joined by feel-good family flicks Inside Out and Finding Nemo, and these are only a few notables of this year’s lineup.
Portsmouth is one of the best scenes for any and all music lovers, and there are so many bands and artists coming to Prescott Park over the next few months. Whether it’s the powerful and always original melodies by Shakey Graves, or the folksy and soulful tunes from The Tallest Man on Earth, talents hailing from all over are coming this summer.
The Arts Festival is one of the highlights of the summer. Whether you’re looking to chill out, tune out, rock out, or hang out, Prescott Park is one of the most beautiful and lively spots in town, and we’re extremely fortunate to live in a community so inspired and driven by the arts.
